PIVoD Technologies and Pretzel Logic Industry Talk, semester 2 '06

The presenters are:

Jason Tey - Software Engineer, PIVoD Technologies

Jason is responsible for support and maintenance of current and completed projects in Australia, Canada and the US, and has alo been involved in projects as far afield as Saudi Arabia. He has had significant input in the development of core components, device control and data configuration using LDAP technology for the Generation 3 PIVoD Media Platform, PIVoD's core technology. Jason has worked on the implementation of every Gen 3 project, from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne, to Storyeum in Vancouver and Woodside in Perth. Jason has been intimately involved in the Development, Testing and Installation phases of these projects which has also involved staff training, hardware testing and installation, Software development of monitoring tools, system upgrades and general on-site support. Jason graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Engineeering (Information Technology - Software systems) with honours in 2002


Paul Hamilton - Project Manager, Pretzel Logic

Paul has been working in the web industry for over 6 years, having been employed in London, Dublin, Sydney and now Perth. He has worked in a variety of roles including website and application development, User Interface design and Project Management. Paul has been working for Pretzel Logic for 18 months and now holds the role of Project Manager. However, his design and analysis skills have also being utilised on various projects. He describes himself and an adaptive and creative individual, of which both are key assets for working in the web sphere.

Motorola Industry Talk, semester 1 '06

The School of Electrical Electronic and Computer Engineering together with
PINTS and the UWA IEEE Student branch is presenting a series of industry
talks to keep you informed about the work of EECE graduates.

The presentation this week will discuss what is involved in working as a
professional software engineer. Come along and find out about the myths,
the reality, where it's great and where it's not. Discover what kind of
person you need to be to succeed as a software engineer. Stewart will also
talk about software engineering at Motorola, the job roles for graduates and the possible
career paths. What's it like to work for a big software engineering company and how that
compares to a smaller company.

Stewart Johnson is currently a Technical Lead at Motorola Perth Center. He
graduated from UWA in 2000 with a BE(IT) and worked for Motorola in
Adelaide in a wide variety of systems, both hardware and software. He was
recently living in Hong Kong deploying a Motorola System for the Hong Kong
Police.
